training for size

Postby lil john » Mon Jul 05, 2010 9:14 pm

alright all
not been on here much been having some issues with net etc

well ive been thinking of wanting to train diffrently and thinking for size. but i know nothing about training for size and the principles. and wonder if anyone got any good basic workouts or nasic info aswell. i still would like to keep compund moves, but i struggle atm with trying to get strong just cos of the back, so wanna take it bit easier and concentrate on enjoying myself lifting weights and gettin some muscle back and try and get plenty of core in and see if can get back sorted. as always.

cheers

from stuff i have read, size/hypertrophy is higher volumes 8-12 repetitions

shorter rest times 60 seconds, although this causes fatigue, and less reps

but on contradiction and to confuse things  having longer rest keeps fatigue down a maintains a high volume of reps ,

im not a big lad though so don't listen to me

the general teachings are 8 to 12 reps for hypertrophy with rest about 1 to 1.30 minutes with base of 3 sets per exercise with 3 exercises per body part................however the 5x5 produces a godd strength to size ratio and is (in recent years) the preffered system amongst the majority of stronger bodybuildery types

what training would you have to do to sway the strength size ratio more to the way of size?

S69 covered the basic/general ideas that are normally followed but if you were say looking at size in relation to body-building then it can go along many paths from super high volume to 1-2 sets which involved a lot of drop sets, forced reps to tear down the muscle fibres.
