If the company is getting into it in a massive way then you can bet your last penny they'll try to snub out anything training practices that might leave them open to criticism or a potential lawsuit.
Could be a good thing, could be a bad thing. Time will tell.
Then they'll be a void as the hardcore crossfitters leave looking for something else just as extreme.
Yes, I believe it will be as you just foretold.
The hardcore ones are just now starting to try and form local groups in storage units like when it first got its start. It is kind of hard to remain hardcore when non crossfitters are buying crossfit hoodies and such off the Reebok site for $90+.
New Spartan Gym may just be a good indicator with this migration.
Reminds me of Powerlifting about ten to fifteen years ago when Westside became more exposed. Most gyms frowned at the use of chains and bands as well as bringing in your own boxes. A lot of lifters formed small cliques and went in on monolifts and storage units. I am sure supplements paid a small part in their decisions too, lol. And the Wheel of Time turns.
On one hand I am repulsed by Crossfit, but on the other it is getting people out there exercising. Hopefully many will realize the flaws involved and migrate to a more discriminating training regime.
