Training goals

Postby Cookie » Fri Dec 30, 2011 1:40 pm

Out of interest do any members have any training goals for next year?

A bit of a tired question I know but as we all know come this time of year it seems to be the norm to be bombarded with new years resolution bullshit & people only seem to get their heads on to improve themselves when a new year approaches.

Always good to write out ones goals, I've got two sets immediate and later.

This year I would like to...

(Now til June)

Total 550kg at under 90 in competition

Get an invite to the nationals

Get that big ass dumbbell overhead any way I can

Bent press the aforementioned dumbbell

(July onward)

Reduced bodyweight to under 82.5kg

Total 540kg as under 82.5kg

Still Bent press that big ass dumbbell :supz:

That does seem to be the norm LOL! you also see a shit load of people out running in january but not so much as we get into February!

Personally Ive always liked new year as a point to take stock and think about the next year. I tend to think about the stuff I feel went wrong over the last year and if its worth redressing or moving on.

not quite got the goals nailed down for next year just yet but I have a few manifesting. :-k

Gets quite tiring for me to constantly see resolutions splashed all over every magazine cover & tv channel. I agree with you its a great starting point to take stock of what has been & what is to come but the way the world goes these days its as if its the only time of year people can make a serious change to their lives.

Companies, personal trainers, gyms, coaches, sports clubs etc must love January with the mad rush of new memberships then breath more easily once February rolls around & the madness is an end. By which point ebay gets a boost in revenue from all the equipment bought that is now no longer needed

My own goals are:

Injury/niggle free for a year

Sub 40 10k

First half marathon

Do 3 Spartan races to earn my trifecta (think that's what they call it).

Get resting heart rate down to mid/low 50's on a consistent basis.

Back to a double body weight squat with no form or back issues.

Work up to unassisted pull ups
Be able to do 100 pushups without stopping
Be fit enough to run a Spartan Death Race by my 43 birthday.

Someone after my own heart

Would love to do one of those races in the next couple of years. Have 3 Spartan races planned for next year.
