CNS and cardio

Postby lil john » Thu Sep 05, 2013 7:40 pm

I know cardio like sprints, prowler etc are heavy in the cns satem. But what about jogging, complexes and other types of cardio? Are they easier on the system and the cns can still recover?

Different aspects of the whole cardiovascular/CNS/muscular set up all work of slightly different heart rate levels but they can all bugger up your CNS if you go overboard. All exercise affects your CNS even stretching & foam rolling can over work it if done too much or too often.

So what can be classed as cardio on off days that wouldn't effect recovery to much?

20-30 minutes gentle exercise that raises your breathing to the point you can still talk properly whilst exercising. For me that was about 140 beats per minute.

Yep. Walk down to Sands lane fields then back up again for starters. Once you can easily do that switch back & forth between walking & jogging the same course.

Playing fields near you. You can get there by walking down by the Spangled Bull pub. Just keep following the big hill down

Not 100% sure here you are but if you follow the main road down the side of the Spangled bull (left side as you look at the pub) it just drops & drops. I would just walk down as far as time allows then come back up. There are some good walks around there.
