2 day week strength training

Postby lil john » Wed Sep 18, 2013 3:15 pm

I'm after some opinions in training twice a week

Can it be done and have strength or mass gains?

I would assume total body training would be the way to go?

thats what julie does and it doesnt work as well, 2 decent strength days is better and then chuck in events as and when, the reason she is doing that is she has a comp coming up

Food for thought.

Pick the least amount of big lifts you need to do for a weights session, keep the sets down to 3 then add 1 or 2 (at the most) events lifts to the end of the session as finishers.

Push, pull, press, events.

That's another way to try.

I was looking at doing gm work and event split as used to love event days. Hmmm maybe I need to re think or even experiment with all ideas for a bit

you wont gain if you are not hitting weights to get strong....instead of event use event equipment to do compound lifts for sets and reps..... so inclin press from rack with log or log for bent rows

events we are only going to work 1 time every 2 weeks through the off season, alternate weeks will be olympic lifting

So even if doing events heavy will struggle to make gains?
I'm doing gym work with 531 ATM and started making good gains tho just squat and press then day two dead and bench as wendler states

Does the last part mean about alternating 1 week oly lifting and 1 week strongman? Could that work with a day of strength and then a day alternating or is that same? As that would be great fun

if you are going to do events then use 5/3/1 or or other routine for each event and try to stick with 1 press, 1 lift, 1 pull, 1 push for it and strength will still go upwards same with oly lifting , do sets of 3 to 5 of Oly lifts and assistance exercises and then that will grow too

well take an off season and do what you say there "how in doing it ATM and maybe jut throw in the odd strongman or oky liftng day now"

and then nearer the comp start adding in more event sessions as it becomes more important......

next year so from october to march will be strength routine as i listed with events alternate weeks and oly the other, but once i get to know what comps are coming along i will move to events every weekend so i am able to compete where and when i want through the year
