Postby fits » Sun Jul 06, 2008 1:24 pm

Hello all
what do you think about this.... an article in MD mag. THere are alaws lots of articles floating about, and LOTS of contradictory info, I thought this one was interesting, I can't be bothered to type the whole thing out but the 'Jist' of it is....

Scientists from Tusts university have doen experiments that suggest high acid diets MAY cause muscle wasting. Protein and cereal grains cuse acds such as Sulfuric acid - where as fruits and veg produce Alkaline chemicals such as potassium. the tudy don on "older" people found that those who ate higher cereal and protein diets and less fruits and veg had less lean mass than those who consumed higher levels of fruit and veg.

what are your views?

Always eat plenty of fruit and veg to counteract the over acid states excessive protein diets bring

Well I have a book that explanes how someone got rid of diabetis by eating celery and stoping little by little his consuption of insuline shots. I think He got down to 7 units and he's doctor told him to stop taking the shots of insuline because they were making him sick.

Insuline is a hormone and as you may know when a women enters menopause sometimes they go to a doctor and have hormones injected to them. The hormones that get injected to the women are not from a younger women as you might have suspected but from plants.

It seems that plant hormones adjust to the human body very well.

From what Iv'e heard, women that enter menopause feel wounders after getting injected by hormones found in plants.

Plants are awsome when it comes to health.

For weight loss carbohydrates play a crucial role. Carbohydrates get turned into glucose and get stored in the muscles and liver. If someone fills there glucose load and keeps on eating the extra carbohydrates will be stored as fat in the body( usually in the less active place place, wich is the abdominals) and you will gain weight.

If you exercise you will use that glucose and be able to store more later.
They say that 3,500 calories equal one pound of fat, and as far as I know it's true but to burn one pound of fat you actually have to burn double the calories.

when you exercise you burn half calories from carbohydrates and half calories from fat.

On the insuline problem they never said if they were feeding them complex carbohydrates
or simple carbohydrates. The differeence is that simple carbohydrates get send straight into the intestines and then the body makes insuline and it rushes like crazy to control the sugar. Complex carbohydrates take some time to break down, when it breaks down it feeds the body energy and the insuline is fine.

You can find complex carbohydrates in fruits and vegetables.
