I think veggies definately need protein powders. maybe the odd MRP. My Protein do a reasonable one, 20 packs for £19 (or it was last time i bought) and they give you about 40g of protein per pack. Split that in two and if you don't get fat too easily add some skim/semi skim milk, maybe pop a couple of fish oils with it if you can, although the powder has some good fats in it and BAM two 30g a servings per day (including the milk protein)
As said above, Lentils are great, lots of different types, chick peas are good kidney beens, peanuts have a fair amount of protein and fat so can be used as a snack, cheese, 50% less fat from tesco is good, but some would say stick to normal cheese as its tampered with less.....cottage cheese, yogart, in fact, wack those two together and blend with some fruits and maybe a little whey powder for a nice shake (Diatia style )
Peas ( i love mushy peas) beans as said above.
Lots of veggie proteins are 'incomplete' and don't contain all of the amino acids so see if you can find online a guide to food combining to get complete proteins.
