I remember when my protein intake was over 500g a day

That is a very typical sign of somebody (very common in exbbers) thats pushed the eating to the limit to gain in the past, go through that myself quite often as food seems less important these days and I try not to obcess about it anymore like I did when doing all out bbing...

just wondering how much protein you should be eating, I've read that it should be around 2g of protein for every Kg of bodyweight is this about right.

Tough question.........

I`ve done it to both extremes.....

High protein and very low protein and still gained fom both.....

I think what you`ve posted above is a good place to start, but remember it`s not something thats set in stone, try to juggle things about and gauge how your body/muscles & recovery are at different levels of intake...

Try a few methods over 3-4 weeks (bit of a ballache I know) which will allow enough time for you to see some changes....

But you have to remember that it is overall calorie intake aswell that plays a big part in gaining muscle mass/weight...Not just the intake of a single nutrient....

Hope this helps....

yea not for everyone , but i know when i use to wrestle and powerlift i didnt take in any source of protien and made gains, and in that when i did load tons of protien most the gains i got were not lean.So now i equal 40-40-20 and am still hanging on to my lean mass.... metabolism is key though , getting it high is the best you can do imo

Right now im bulking:

On waking: 5g L-Glutamine

8:30am: 2 scoops of whey, oatabix & milk

10:30am: tin of sardines, apple, brown bread

12:30: 6 eggs, 3 yolks, bread, fruit

3:30: tin of tuna, pasta, sauce, fruit

5-6 workout shake, 3 scoops of whey, honey, l-Glutamine, salt

7ish: Dinner: slab of meat, veg and some slow carbs

9ish: cottage cheese, apple

10:30: 5g L-glutamine

....................................

I aim for 3500-4000Kcals each day, but I don't go the the point of measuring it all out, My current wieght is 175lbs. This diet works for me to gain mass given that I have a high metabolisim and and naturally skinny, I have to eat LOTS to gain.
