the pillow has to be the right size and type for you. your size, your mattresses sink and your sleeping style determine what type you get. go to stores that lets you lay around and try a few out, both pillows and mattresses. i'm amazed how many do not know they can do this or just plain dont knowing they can, its a large investment in money and health so it should be treated as such. i wouldnt make a decision first test nap, try a few time to make sure previous experience was not a one-off.
as for the mattress, there is more than one brand and type of foam. you have to take into consideration air temp of where you sleep. if its warm where you sleep, any mem. foam brand might due if its comfortable in the try out. i dont know about the uk, but in the states there are lower cost furniture stores that sell mem. foam matresses for less, give them a try if you have them and are quality unless you fall into the same problem i have. i tolerate lower temps, so in the winter my house is near 60 F , at the temp the regular memory foam type cannot easily react in, by tempur-pedics admission. simmons makes a nontemp foam, but it costs big coin as well, so im still on the hunt for a non spring.
