hand care
ok the basic pissing on your hands works to toughen them up, but for generall lifting hand care
keep the calluses filed down, the small foot grater does the job ok, but for in the gym (not at comps) the electric sanding type works best as it flattens the edges down so chalk cannot get under them
i have a small grater for comp[s and after each event that compresses them or makes them squashed up i fille the rough raised bits down, i try not to keep chalk on them between events as its the constand build up that that raises them
again afet comp i will make sure theres no chalk build up left and maybe the day after will sand them down again
if i am doing something like a long kettlebell run or oly style training where i am under a ritating bar a lot, i start by rolling a deodorant ball over my hands to stop any sweat coming through and keeping the chalk on longer, i make sure i have a decent layer of chalk between me and the bar or bell all the time, with k bells (girevoy) i make sure the handle is completely cased in chalk and make sure i have plenty of chalk on
with grip comps, i find a better finer chalk is preferable and not too much chalk, here i am using it to help maintain grip far more than with kettlebell or oly lifting so too much chalk between me and the item being used isnt going to help
taping for oly lifting as i dont have many problems with callouses i tend to only use tape on my thumb (hook grip) and to tape my little finger to the next finger as i find my little finger flips up and hampers oly movements
.hope that helps
