Spartan Beast

Spartan Beast

Postby Cookie » Thu Sep 27, 2012 5:30 pm

Just had an email about this years Beast race.

This weekend has been a big weekend for Spartan Race, the world championships took place in Vermont. We are looking for a UK contingent to take the crown. Are you tough enough? The winner of the UK Beast will receive free, all expenses paid entry into the world championships not to mention a chance at the $100,000 combined purse, sponsored by Dial for men.

Very tempted by that.

Over 13 miles of off road running plus 30+ obstacles.

It's going to be fun :supz:

Okay I think I need glasses ](*,)

The race is 25km (around 17.5 miles) with 50 plus obstacles not what I wrote in the opening post

This'll be the furthest distance I've ever run

Wow. That is some serious endurance to do that! How you going to train up to that, increase running distance etc?

Need to increase my distance work. Spent the last 5 weeks working on muscular strength so for the next 3-4 weeks it'll be a matter of maintaining my strength improvements whilst upping the cardio side of things.

Only 48 hours to go.

4 weeks ago I was in such great physical condition that I was going to go for the win & possible entry into the world championships held in the USA. Things change. And with recent events being as they have been training took a back seat even though I tried to not let it. So with next to no training over 30 minute jogs I'm going into this 25 km/60 obstacle race pretty blind. Not knowing what state I'll be in by the end.

No going for glory this time around unfortunately.

One thing is for sure.

I'll not wimp out of anything ;-)

Very good mate. Its wasn't how I would have planned it but I have learnt from the race & the training building up to it.
