On towards Glen Etive

As we said our goodbyes to the testing stone of the Fianna we once more found ourselves winding along country lanes with beautiful scenery on either side. Paul was in an upbeat mood having now succeeded on another lift and was looking forward to the stone of Dalness and what that had to offer in the way of testing us. Around 10-15 minutes into the drive we pulled up outside a little quaint post office which also did a nice range of teas for the passing holiday trade. After selecting our food and beverage of choice we settled down to discuss the last few days lifting and listen to Peter expand our knowledge of the history of not only the stones but also how they all tie in with Scottish history covering many many centuries. All very fascinating stuff and it does wet the appetite for more in depth research and a greater appreciation of exactly why you are lifting the stones and those that have done so before you. The more you learn about the stones and the clans associated with them the more you want to test yourself and lift more of the stones out there. A sense of hope creeps in that more will be found before your next visit.

I so hope they will.

well i have to say the exploring my scottish heritage is now on the agenda, i know that the “laird” ship ( Laird Paul of GLENCAIRN) thing my mum bought for me is actually tied in to the LAMONT clan that i have history with and that ties in to the McGregor clan that we are also associated to and also that my Great Grandfather was a game keeper in scotland too
