Tour de France Stage 16

Stage 16 – Saint-Paul-Trois-chateux  Gap 162.5 km

Alberto Contador finally shows the rest of the peloton there is still life left in his legs. With attack after attack Contador pushed the GC leaders to their limits as he attempted to claw back the time lost during the earlier stages of the tour with injuries sustained from numerous crashes. Wityh his relentless attacking Contador managed to get the Schleck brothers and Voeckler to crack on the final climb with only Cadel Evans managing to match these attacking moves and make a few seconds on the decent to climb from third to second in the overall standings.

Thor “the God of Thunder” Hushovd claimed his tenth tour win of his career with a blistering burst for the finish line against fellow compatriot Ryder Hesjedal with Garmin team mate Edvald Boasson hagen coming in third after helping to lead out Thor in the sprint finish.
